Native-Member Professional
Industry: Tribal Development
Description: Brendan George is a proud Tribal Member and Michigander committed to advancing sovereignty through economic development in Indian Country. His passion for Tribal enterprise began early through summers spent in St. Ignace with his great-grandmother, Evelyn Corp, who instilled in him a deep respect for our history while encouraging thoughtful engagement with the contemporary Native experience.
Brendan earned his degree from Marietta College in 2011, where he interned with the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce and gained firsthand insight into the power of collaborative business communities. He has since spent more than a decade working in Tribal Gaming, Marketing, and Government Communications. In these roles, he has partnered closely with Tribal leadership and economic development entities, including the NHBP and its Economic Development Corporation, to strengthen communications strategy and support enterprise growth.
His work includes launching an educational entrepreneurial video series for Tribal Members and supporting the development of a Pow Wow mobile app to enhance community engagement and accessibility. He has also witnessed firsthand the dedication required to build tribally rooted businesses, including his uncle’s firm, Nayback Law. Brendan brings a strategic communications mindset, a strong belief in tribally driven economic empowerment, and a collaborative leadership approach to his service on the STBA Board.
He is honored to join his fellow board members in strengthening Tribal businesses and fostering sustainable growth for future generations. Outside of his professional work, Brendan enjoys cooking and spending time with his son, Maxcell, where they share a love for Legos, movies, and indoor rock climbing.
